You've definitely heard of this. If not, then this will interest you.
Weight loss. Tough isn’t it? We all want a quick fix, we want results fast and we want. I’m no different to you, I want results fast also! Yes, I will admit that. If only it was that easy!
In the last decade, there has been a huge explosion of interest in a new cocktail known as Bulletproof coffee. The ingredients are simple. Coffee, grass-fed butter and in some cases coconut oil. Idea? Simple. Caffeine to jolt energy levels and butter to give you energy instead of carbs, and as a result of no carbs in the system, your body switches to use fat as a fuel source!
On paper it really does makes sense. Train fasted, don’t have any food, but one hour before your workout you should take a strong cup of coffee mixed in with grass-fed butter/coconut oil. WINNER!
Well, not so FAST. At the end of the day, the main thing that will determine weight loss is calories. Taking in fewer calories than your body needs on a daily basis. Now if you train on an empty stomach already, which I will touch on in a later post, you will stimulate the release of fatty acids (fat) into the bloodstream. However, unless you are in a calorie deficit, these will go nowhere and will just end up going back to where they came from. So, you release the fat from the cells, they chill out in the bloodstream for a bit, then just go back into wherever they came from.
Why do people swear by this?
Well, look at the big picture. These people, who are ripped and lean as it is already, will already be in a calorie deficit losing weight. They have got down to a healthy level already. So, the bulletproof coffee itself isn’t really doing much for them, rather, it has a psychological effect on them making them think it’s working. Also, guys, the bulletproof coffee that comes already prepared on the shelves will be advertised by lean, good-looking individuals. Of course, this will sell!
For you, however, ditch this idea. Don’t even buy anything that says “bulletproof” on it. If you are someone who drinks the gloopy drink, and you swear by it, awesome – carry on. In fact, this product may help you gain weight due to the number of calories in the butter and oil. So really, it could end up being an extra 200-400 calories you could have easily saved later in the day.
But for the rest of you guys, no drink will aid in weight loss. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! We can’t be looking for shortcuts?
Oh, the guy who invented the idea, or came up with it, has laughed all the way to the bank!
