Can You Get Fit at Home?

The answer may surprise you.

Can you work out at home and lose weight?

Something I LOVE talking about!

You can absolutely workout at home and lose weight.  You can achieve your best body without setting foot in a gym or attending a class.

A gym is not essential.  Why?  Because it all comes down to you eating slightly fewer calories than your body needs daily to burn body-fat and pushing yourself in your workouts. That’s all you need.  A calorie deficit combined with some intense physical exercise.

So Why Are You Being Told To Get To A Gym And Lift Weights?

Well, I must say now, that weight fluctuates.  You will no doubt have experienced this before.  But the reason weight training in a gym is effective, is because it can help increase lean body mass which can help keep weight off long term!  This is the only potential downfall of training at home - you may not have access to a variety of weights.

The problem is however, most women are scared of this - and  I don't blame them.  But I’m going off-topic.   I will revisit this another time, but for now, know that weight training in the future can only be beneficial.  Right now, anything you do whereby you challenge yourself will be absolutely awesome.  There have been times where people have come to me with absolutely zero knowledge or experience and I have got them doing very basic bodyweight exercises and guess what – THEY LOST SOME WEIGHT!:)

Simply because I fine-tuned their diet for them but most importantly, I got them moving, burning calories and putting their muscles through a stress that it hasn’t experienced before.  They may have access to equipment and fancy machines but I didn’t use any of that.  This is a pretty good example I have used when I have spoken to people before who have complained about not having a gym membership or just have confidence issues being in a public gym – which I totally understand.  90% of my clientele are those who are anxious about stepping into gyms, so I have a lot of understanding around the psychology behind this.

But what can I do at home If I want a good workout?

Squats, leg raises, press ups, lunges, star jumps, burpees, squat jumps, planks…the list goes on!

Anything that gets your heart rate up, burns calories and works your muscles will do the job.

My one biggest bit of advice is – GET STARTED!
