Gluten-Free & Boosting Weight Loss

Admit it, you've tried it thinking it was good for weight loss

Going Gluten-Free for Weight-Loss

If you cut out gluten because a magazine told you to do so, you are being misled.  Eliminating gluten is seen as trendy and the “in” thing to do nowadays.  This is the most irresponsible piece of advice anyone can give to someone – to cut out gluten.    This also applies to any food group.  Please don’t take the piss try to self-diagnose and tell others to cut out certain things because it worked for you.

Unless you have any intolerances or allergies, there is NO need to cut out a food group because it is popular to do so.  Coeliac and IBS and other digestion-related issues are serious and can ONLY be diagnosed through proper tests.  Self-diagnosis is stupid.  You are cutting out foods that you enjoy for no reason other than the fact Gillian McKeith said it can help you lose fat.

Weight-loss/Fat-loss doesn’t occur when you cut out a single ingredient or food group.  It’s the silliest bit of advice to give to someone. At the end of the day, the only way to lose weight is to get the calorie balance right in the body.  Taking in slightly less than your body needs to maintain its weight. Pasta, oats etc will not directly stop you from losing body fat.  So don’t worry.

If anyone tells you that going gluten-free is the way to go, look the other way.  If you go gluten-free out of choice and you do your thing and enjoy it, then, by all means, go ahead.  But if you preach your ways to others who are misinformed and tell them it’s the way to go, then you are doing harm to that individual.  Cutting out foods for no reason can create a very poor relationship with food in the long term and may also cause you psychological harm as you start to eliminate things from your life you used to enjoy.

Don’t be a health guru, mind your business and let the professionals do the tests.

Want to know how to lose weight though?

It’s called a CALORIE DEFICIT!

Which simply means taking in fewer calories than your body needs per day just to maintain its current state.  So if 2000 calories per day keep your weight stable, drop it by about 200-400 and watch something magical happen!

Obviously eat well, but that's for another discussion altogether!
